If the answer is less than a class period, I’m in. Lastly, I try to figure out how long it will take me to teach students to use. I determine if it is applicable for many purposes and can be used outside of the media center. I always wonder if it will be engaging for my students. When I decide to use an app, there are a few things that I consider. Older students can easily place the sheet on the chair or even the tabletop depending on the height of these items compared to your students’. It also makes it easier for them to see what happens on their screen after scanning. The height that standing provides them makes it easier to scan the sheet. With younger students, I teach them to put their paper on the floor. Quiver Masks and Fashion are also GREAT FUN! Be sure to check them out! Tips for Using Quiver And the flag printable is also a great way to learn about each other and have some fun! Other times, I have them design a Starbucks cup for a staff member. It sparks great peer conversation while students are sharing their designs with each other. I also like to leave them for substitutes because it is not a heavy lift for them (after I have taught students how to use it, of course).Ĭommunity Building: Sometimes, I just provide students with a sport option, or animal option as a way to share their favorite with each other. I also provide Quiver as an AR option when I am teaching AR, allowing students to make a choice about how they wish to engage with AR.Įnrichment: I like leaving Quiver activities available in our Command Center (where I keep all materials) for students to use when they finish their work. Students then get to choose the station they want to work at. So I print a couple out and put them out at stations. Stations: Frequently, there are a number of choices for different content areas. When my Kindergarteners are learning about and discussing transportation, I use this as an opportunity to merge media and classroom learning. Even to my youngest students, 2 year-olds! This is such a hands on and concrete way to teach the difference between AR and VR (virtual reality).Ĭurriculum Connections: There are many curriculum connections you can make with Quiver. They allow me to introduce Augmented Reality (AR) to students. Teach Augmented Reality: This is one of the reasons why I love Quiver 3DBear, and Narrator. The key is teaching students how to use and explore the additional buttons at the bottom, or right of the screen 5 Ways to Use Quiver All have something great and unique to offer. The Frog Life Cycle shows each phase in action. One of the cool things about Quiver is that each printable has a different feature. This means that the printable is being scanned and their artwork is about to come to life! Particularly with younger students, I show them how to hold the iPad and the relative distance to hold it above the sheet.įor Quiver to successfully work students need to make sure the image on their tablet screen gets a nice blue outline. When introducing Quiver to students, I typically have them choose a coloring sheet first.Īfter giving them a good chunk of time to color, I show them how to use the app with the page. It’s great fun! Introducing Quiver to Students And then there are the ones where airplanes fly, cars drive, carousels move on the page, and soccer games are played. The dot can bounce, squish, and multiply. And even more, they love seeing how their artwork is modified or augmented after they scan it. Then there are some that just tap into students’ interests, like dragons. There are others that support content areas like Science, Social Studies, PE, or social emotional learning. There are some that support literacy events, like Dot Day. Watch your artwork come to life.ĭepending on the sheet, there may be options to move what is on your screen. Sochorow says he believes Splintered Sunlight has played every song the Grateful Dead ever performed.įor most shows, the band likes to play a higher percentage of danceable songs. The website,, maintains a record of show set lists. Sochorow says he has a book of Grateful Dead set lists that he refers to to create the shows. The fact that a record of all these set lists exists is once again a testament to devoted fans that kept records and often taped the concerts for future enjoyment - a practice the Dead, unlike most bands, endorsed. Sochorow says the band looked at all the concerts the Grateful Dead played on those dates and picked out the set lists they liked the best.Īs any Deadhead knows, the Grateful Dead greatly varied its set lists from night to night. 30 show will re-create a 1981 concert at Compton Terrace Amphitheatre in Tempe, Ariz. The July 12 show will be songs from a 1989 concert in RFK Stadium in Washington and the Aug. The June 28 show will be a re-creation of the “Fare Thee Well” concert surviving members and guests played to celebrate 50 years of the Grateful Dead at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., in 2015. The first concert will be a re-creation of a Grateful Dead show played May 31, 1992, at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl in Las Vegas. This year, the band has selected set lists for shows the Grateful Dead - or one of its spinoff bands - played on the specific dates Splintered Sunlight will appear at the Musikfest Cafe. Last year, the band performed set lists of classic Dead concerts at Pennsylvania venues, including Veterans Stadium and Hershey Park Stadium. This will be the third summer that Splintered Sunlight will perform as the Artist in Residence at the Musikfest Cafe. The part of Bob Weir on rhythm guitar and vocals is shared by two men who are competing to join the band full time, Sochorow says. The lineup also includes Stephen Spatz on bass, Billy Siegel on keyboards and Jerry Horan and Scott Toop on drums, a la Rhythm Devils Hart and Kreutzmann. We just want people to come out, have a good time and be dancing all night long.”Īs the lead guitarist and singer, Sochorow’s part in the band corresponds to Garcia’s, the Grateful Dead’s generally recognized leader, though he disavowed the role. “Pretty much over years, we just established ourselves as a band where people can come out and dance all night long,” Sochorow says. It has become a regular at Musikfest, Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks and has an annual early July run of shows at Ardmore Music Hall it calls Dead, White & Blue. Since then, Splintered Sunlight is a favorite at many venues in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Not long after Sochorow arrived, he says, the band was signed by a management agency and began getting booked in some of the larger clubs in the region, including the Electric Factory. At the time, the band was playing mostly small bars around the Philadelphia area. Splintered Sunlight has a long history it formed in 1992. Every year, more and more people get involved with the music.” Splintered Sunlight lead guitarist and singer Zeren ‘Butchy’ Sochorow. Each show will re-create a classic Dead concert. Sochorow is a lifelong Deadhead, as well as the leader, lead guitarist and singer for Philadelphia Dead tribute band Splintered Sunlight, which is preparing to play its third summer residency of four shows at the Musikfest Cafe, beginning on Thursday, May 31. Zeren “Butchy” Sochorow is one of those amazed by the trend. Instead, new generations of fans have emerged, as have a growing army of Grateful Dead tribute bands. Surviving members of the pioneering jam band that formed in 1965 have continued to play together in various combinations - live as The Other Ones, the Dead, Furthur and, most recently, Dead & Company, which features guitarist John Mayer playing with original members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann.Īfter more than 50 years, one might think the band’s devoted fan base - lovingly called Deadheads - would be diminishing. More than 20 years after co-founder Jerry Garcia died, and the band technically dissolved, the Grateful Dead continues to capture the imagination and loyalty of millions around the world. Off Target – You and your chosen group (or the targetted object) appear at a random distance from the destination in a random direction. On Target – You and your chosen group (or the targetted object) appear where you intended to.Maybe you tried to scry an enemy’s sanctum but instead saw an illusion, or you are attempting to teleport to a previous familiar location that no longer exists. “False destination” is a place that never or no longer exists. “Description” refers to a place whose location and appearance have been described by someone or something else, most commonly from a map or someone explaining where you should head. “Viewed once” is a place you have only seen once, usually through using magic. “Seen casually” is a place you have seen more than once but with which you aren’t familiar. “Very familiar” refers to a place you have been to often, a place you have studied carefully, or a place you see when casting the spell. “Associated object” means you possess a chosen object taken from the desired location within the last six months.Įxamples include a book taken from a wizard’s library, bed linen belonging to a royal suite, or a chunk of marble obtained from a lich’s secret tomb. “Permanent circle” refers to a permanent Teleportation Circle whose sigil you have memorized. The DM then rolls a d100 and will proceed to consult the table. Your familiarity with the destination will determine whether you arrive there successfully. The DestinationĪ chosen destination must be known to you and fall under the same plane of existence you are currently on. Note: If you are trying to target an object, it must be capable of fitting entirely into a 10-foot cube, and it cannot be carried or held by an unwilling creature. Whether the creatures or object is teleported will be determined if you can see them within the spell’s range. Upon casting Teleport, you and up to eight willing creatures of your choosing, or a single object, are transported to a destination you selected. This indicates a conduction delay in the AV node. First degree heart block will look like a typical sinus rhythm, with a constant PR interval however, it will measure >0.20 second, when it should normally be 0.12-0.20 second. On the EKG, the PR interval represents the measurement of conduction time between the atria & ventricles. It occurs when the electrical impulses are slowed down, but they still successfully reach the ventricles. The heart blocks with a variable P-R interval include Second degree Type I (Wenckebach) & Third degree.įirst degree AV block is the most common heart block. The heart blocks with a constant P-R interval include the First degree & Second degree Type II (Mobitz II). variable P-R interval can help you separate one heart block from another. The most common cause of acquired heart block is a heart attack, but may also be caused by an enlarged heart, heart failure, and rheumatic fever.ĪV blocks are identified by their severity… First-degree, second-degree, which can be subdivided into type 1 and type 2, and then third-degree heart block. Heart blocks may be congenital, they may occur secondary to medications, or be caused by disease that results in tissue death affecting a portion of the conduction system.Īs a person ages, the risk of acquired heart block increases, along with the incidence of heart disease. In a patient with an AV heart block, the electrical signal controlling the heartbeat is partially or completely blocked from reaching the ventricles. The electrical current travels from the AV node to the ventricles, causing the ventricles to contract and pump blood out to the body. The AV node functions as a critical delay in the conduction system, preventing the atria & ventricles from contracting at the same time, which would cause an ineffective flow of blood through the heart. The impulse travels through the atria, moving down to the atrioventricular (AV) node, located in the center of the heart between the atria and ventricles. The electrical signals telling the heart to contract are partially or totally blocked between the atria & ventricles – therefore it is called an atrioventricular (AV) block.Ī normal heartbeat is initiated by an electrical signal which starts in the sinoatrial (SA) node, the heart’s natural pacemaker located in the right atrium. doi:10.1161/01. heart block is an abnormal heart rhythm known as an arrhythmia and can occur anywhere in the specialized conduction system of the heart. I’ve wrestled with capture cards not always picking up sources before but was very happy to lower my guard.Ī single one-time set-up unit that’s largely plug and play.Įven since the initial install I’ve only experienced problems when having two different programs trying to use the card at once. After downloading the drivers as well as the AVerMedia RECentral 4 software, all my PC needed was a restart and everything was working as expected. The software setup was also fairly effortless. However, one of the newer entries to the market is the Live Gamer Duo, an internal card that fits into a PCIe slot on your motherboard and can handle two HDMI inputs at once-a very useful tool for streamers and content creators. Previously we’ve seen the Thunderbolt-only Live Gamer Bolt, and the 4K HDR streaming lineup, in the Live Gamer Ultra and Live Gamer 4K. Its capture cards in particular always seem to come with an interesting innovation-and the AVerMedia Live Gamer Duo doesn't buck the trend. All of which makes it so I don't have to sacrifice my own gaming experience to record it for others.ĪVerMedia might not be a household name yet when it comes to capture cards and streaming devices, but that doesn’t mean the company isn’t turning heads. Adroit 1080p at 60fps recording, yes, though more so the low latency passthrough, VRR, and HDR support. That said, there are some things I probably couldn't go without now that I have used the HD60 X. I'm yet to find any external capture card that makes capturing gameplay as much of a doddle as I'd like to think it to be. So the flexibility of how you wish to set up your streaming setup is something to weigh up before hitting purchase on an external unit like this HD60 X.Īs a user of the original Elgato Game Capture HD and then the HD60 S, I'll admit the HD60X doesn't feel like a revelatory new product. Ultimately, a PCIe add-in capture card tends to get you more bang for your buck at 4K, and comes with heaps of benefits in other ways to make up for its lack of portability. You also lose the option to easily travel around with your capture card, though let's be honest I can't imagine that's of massive importance for many. Some of the flexibility is removed when you ditch the external connection from your capture card: Not only will you have to make space inside your PC, but you're removing the ability to run your stream or recording off a laptop close-by. Though only a few of these 4K cards are standalone units, most being PCIe add-in when you get down to near the price of the HD60 X. So while your recording may lose some of that information, you don't have to suffer through a low picture quality while you're recording. The passthrough functionality of the HD60 X is, however, fully capable of running at 4:4:4, or in other words, uncompressed. And the thing to remember here is that, if you intend to use your content, say, online-which most will-then video compression is going to eat up a lot of the quality anyways. It does look decent with chroma subsampling, too. Corsair tells me 4:2:2 is available via non-default codecs and will work at 1080p at 60fps or 1440p at 30fps, but don't expect that out of the box. To save bandwidth on the HD60 X, it offers 4:2:0 by default. I don't have to sacrifice my own gaming experience to record it for others. A capture card is just part of our broader streaming ecosystem you should ensure you're investing in the best webcam and microphone to complete your setup. The picks below were tested using OBS and Xsplit, two popular broadcasting apps among streams, since that's the best for most of your footage. Plus, the bandwidth requirements often mean 4K is not worth the hassle for most streamers. There are good 4K capture cards out there, but they're also expensive, and those files' storage needs are harsh. 60fps is great if your PC can handle the extra load, but play it safe if you're starting out. We recommend most people focus on a 1080p target resolution and at least 30fps with any potential capture card purchase. External capture cards are much more portable, so much easier to use, and in some cases, cheaper than their internal counterparts since they connect to your PC via USB 3.0 or USB Type C. Best of all, they no longer require you to pry open your PC and hope you have an extra card slot next to your GPU to install it. Nowadays, capture cards come in all shapes and sizes.
